Colors
#0033A0 · Pantone 286 CThe medium blue evokes Europe and peace, echoing the blue of the European flag toward which the country turns.
#FFCD00 · Pantone 116 CThe yellow triangle stands for the three constituent peoples and recalls the roughly triangular shape of the territory; it also suggests the sun and hope.
#FFFFFFThe white stars, cut off top and bottom, evoke Europe and suggest infinity, hence continuity.
Symbols & elements
The white stars, cut off at top and bottom to suggest an endless sequence, symbolise Europe and the country's continuity. The design was imposed in 1998 after the constituent peoples failed to agree on a flag.
