Coat of arms

Three towers on three peaks of Monte Titano — Guaita, Cesta and Montale — each topped with an ostrich feather. A wreath of laurel and oak surrounds them, beneath a crown, with the motto Libertas.

Proportions 3:4. Two horizontal bands, white on top, sky blue below, with the coat of arms at the centre: three silver towers on the three peaks of Mount Titano, topped by a crown, framed by laurel and oak, and the motto LIBERTAS.

Specific rules — San Marino

• The state flag bears the coat of arms; the civil flag, in the same colours, omits it.
• It flies on public buildings and at official ceremonies.

Common conventions

• Keep the flag clean and never let it touch the ground.
• Never fly a torn or faded flag — repair or replace it.
• Illuminate the flag if it stays up at night.
• Never use the flag as clothing, packaging or advertising.
• Dispose of a worn flag respectfully, not in the trash.
