Proportions: 2:3 (9 × 6 grid). Three equal horizontal bands — red, white, red — each 2 units tall. The state flag adds the black eagle (coat of arms) at the centre. One of the world's oldest national flags: the red-white-red Babenberg arms are documented as early as 1230.
