Construction details
Proportions: 2:3. Red field charged with an inverted (V-shaped) triangle pointing downward. Inside, three horizontal bands: black, light blue (half-width) and white; a yellow rising half-sun sits on the black band. Designed by Sir Reginald Samuel, winner of a public competition, and adopted on 27 February 1967. The colour sequence black-yellow-blue-white (from the sun downward) evokes soil, sun, sea and sand.
