A gold five-pointed star for the spirit of international solidarity of the Mozambican people; an open book for education; a hoe for the peasantry and agriculture; and a bayonet-fitted AK-47 for the people's determination to defend their freedom. Mozambique is the only country whose flag depicts a modern firearm.
