This overseas territory officially uses two flags: the French tricolour and the Kanak (FLNKS) flag, flown together since 13 July 2010. The latter has no official legal status but flies on many public buildings.

Construction details

The local flag: three horizontal bands, blue, red, green, with a black-edged yellow disc bearing a black roof-spear (a traditional house-ridge ornament). The French tricolour remains the territory's official flag.
